Plant Nutrient Deficiencies :
There are total 17 essential nutrients required for optimum plant
growth. Diagnosis of nutrient deficiency symptoms is too complex and difficult.
It is very difficult to diagnose visual deficiency symptom of nutrient on plants
because similar type of symptoms may appear due to pest attack, disease
infestation, water shortage, sudden climatic change etc. During diagnosis of
nutrient deficiency symptoms, one must has to note down the history of an area
that should include soil type, quality of irrigation water, any sprays taken
along with concentration, any sudden climatic change, disease/pest
infestation prevailing there etc. Generally, plant shows deficiency of
major nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium in lower plant part,
secondary nutrients like Ca, Mg and S in middle while micronutrients like Fe,
Mn, Zn, Cu, and B on emerging/new grown or upper plant part. Further, it
is also essential to locate the appearance of symptoms on the plant either
it is on top/emerging/new growing area or in the middle or the
lower/bottom/older plant part, accordingly we can decide specific nutrient
deficiency.
